If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you’d know that I have a growing obsession with everything skincare– trying out new products/picking up new skincare habits. It’s funny because I used to be a use “bathing soap and sponge on my face and call it a day” type of person.
It’s like they say “Change is the only thing that’s constant”
One of the most frequent questions I get asked is about my skincare routine. Although, the products I use change with time, I have a basic four-step routine which I’ve talked about here.
In this post, I’ll be sharing a few skincare habits /changes to adopt for a clear and healthy skin a.k.a skincare habits I’ve picked up that has really improved my skin.
Check Out These Five Super Easy Skincare Tips And Habits To Adopt For A Healthier Skin Click To Tweet1. Leave Your Face Alone.
I’m starting with the most basic but also an overlooked tip because I feel this cannot be overemphasized. You might be doing this without even knowing it- the occasional resting your hand on your cheek or just generally touching your face throughout the day.
This way, it’s very easy to transfer the bacteria you pick up from all the things you touch every day.
Not touching your face also applies to when you get acne. When I have a breakout, I just ignore it and try not to touch my face. Also, wash your hands before you wash your face and wipe your phones with antibacterial wipes every now and then.
Another thing I do that might sound overboard is letting guys know that they can’t touch my face anyhow in the name of being affectionate.
Basically, just leave your face alone! Trust me on this.
2. Don’t Slack With Your SPF.
Using sunscreen is another thing that can never be overemphasized too. I’ve been on the hunt for sunscreen forever. I knew that it was important but I never really understood the concept of sunscreen -Do I apply it, then apply my moisturizer? Then makeup on top of that too? And there was all that talk about reapplying as the day goes on. Do I reapply on top of my makeup? I had too many questions!
So finding one that also doubles as a moisturizer was such a delight for me. I currently use the Lavyanna naturals super skin detox moisturizer which contains SPF 50+
Asides from reducing sunburn which dulls your skin tone (Used to be my major problem), Sunscreen also helps to ensure you don’t start to wrinkle and age on time.
Everyone Should Use A Sunscreen With An SPF Of At Least 30. Here's Why! Click To Tweet3. Try A Face Sponge/Cleansing Brush.
I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with the traditional means of using your hands to apply your cleanser (Because I honestly don’t know) but I’ve noticed that my skin feels smoother after my bath, ever since I switched to the face sponge life and I feel like I’ve had a deeper cleanse.
There are different options ranging from the face gloves, electronic facial brushes, to Konjac sponges. I went for the Konjac sponge (which I got from Cici Glam) instead because it is super gentle on my skin and offers just the right amount of daily exfoliation. I usually apply the product to my face with my hands first, then go in with the Konjac sponge.
4. Infuse Vitamin C Into Your Skincare Routine.
I used to see Vitamin C serums being advertised but paid it no attention because I figured it was just another fancy Skincare habit /product that I really didn’t need. Fast forward to this year and I’ve seen the light. Literally!
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that stimulates collagen production and helps the skin by repairing the damage done by free radicals and the sun. In other words, if you want glowing skin, you should definitely include some vitamin c to your Skincare routine
I went all out and got a whole range of Vitamin C containing products. Haha. But for me, the most important is my Vitamin C face serum from Lavyanna naturals.
5. Moisturize!!
You may think that this is pretty normal right? But just the other day a friend called me asking for help because she was breaking out. When I asked about the moisturizer she uses, she looked at me blankly. I didn’t judge though because I used to be just like her.
Moisturizing is such an important part of skincare that shouldn’t be missed, even if you have oily skin. You shouldn’t go a day without hydrating your skin. I even went further to get a separate face cream well suited for my face alone- the Lavyanna naturals super skin detox vitamin C face cream.(which I use majorly at night).
Moisturizing shouldn’t be limited to daytime alone. It is also important to moisturize at night too, as skin cells do their greatest renewal and repair while you sleep at night.

I don’t totally agree with point 3. I used to be a fan of sponges on the face until a friend of mine told me that the reason for my rough face is because I use sponge on it which causes hard scrubbing. I switched to using my hand and its been awesome and almost perfect since then. Another great face care routine is by rinsing your face with water before every night sleep. Does wonders!

What type of sponge? Definitely not bathing sponge because that is a no no but a konjac sponge is gentle.
Am a fan of using hand for my face, someone hint me about that years ago
But I also do not object to using sponge but that sponge have to be really soft
I totally agree to infusing vitamin C serum in your skin care regimen and this are all very useful tips. Thank you Cassie for yet another great post
