Sometime late last year, I suddenly started breaking out and just couldn’t figure out why. Stopping the new products I was using and giving it time didn’t seem to help, so after consulting with my aesthetic doctor friend, we both decided to try Korean beauty products.
I talked about this and shared the products I decided to try out here. I’ll be sharing a before and after update and also what my skincare routine with these products looked like.
P.S – If you haven’t already read the post about the Korean beauty products I copped, you can go read that here first.
I got the products in mid-October and started using them immediately. After a few weeks, I noticed that most of the pimples I had were now smaller in size compared to the big ones I was battling with. Although I still had some new breakouts, it wasn’t as big or as bad as where I was coming from.
By the second week of November, I noticed that my face had improved a lot. The pimples I already had were clearing up and new ones had stopped popping up but now I had to deal with the hyperpigmentation left behind.
The hyperpigmentation was quite worrisome to me because I didn’t think they were clearing fast enough, but looking back at the pictures now and I realize how much progress my skin made in just a few months of starting my Korean skincare routine.

What was my skincare routine like?
I didn’t use strictly all Korean beauty products because I already had some products that were working just fine for me, but I’m pretty confident that these were also a game-changer.
Morning Routine.
Cleanse – I use the Cosrx AC Collection calming foam cleanser which is a salicylic acid cleanser. I was going to get a Benzoyl peroxide wash but I’m glad I decided to try out salicylic acid first. It’s not as harsh as benzoyl peroxide and thankfully this one got the job done.
Treat – After cleansing in the morning, I follow up with the Iunik Propolis Vitamin C serum and Tiam Niacinamide after that. I wasn’t always regular with the Niacinamide in the morning though.
Hydrate – Hyaluronic acid comes right after the “treat” phase of my routine. I use the hyaluronic acid from Deceim’s the ordinary. I really like this and will probably always restock.
Moisturize – To moisturize, I use the simple light hydrating moisturizer. It’s an all-time fave.
Protect – I finish up my routine with the Missha aqua sun gel.
Evening Routine
Cleanse – I use the same cleanser I use in my morning routine.
Tone – On very few occasions I use a toner after cleansing. When that happens, I use the Garnier soothing botanical toner.
Exfoliate – I made a switch from physical to chemical exfoliation a while back and I never looked back. For exfoliation, I used Pixi glow tonic glycolic acid and the Ordinary Salicylic acid on alternate days.
Treat, Hydrate and Moisturize – After exfoliating at night, I follow it up with Tiam’s niacinamide, hydrate with Hyaluronic acid and Moisturize with the Simple light hydrating moisturizer.
My routine right now is slightly different because some of these products have finished and been replaced by other products, but the basic framework of my routine remains pretty much the same.
I hope that you find this post helpful, please let me know if you have any questions or will like to share your own experience in the comments!

You exfoliate everyday?
Yes I do.
I use majorly Deciem’s products, a Simple cleanser and Neutrogena Hydroboost as sunscreen.
My major problem at this point is the hyperpigmentation I face from acne breakouts and figuring out how to reapply sunscreen throughout the day… do you just apply it over already dirty face in the middle of the day?
So confusing.

LOVE the results!! the improvement is amazing and ur skin is glowing!! I love using kbeauty products!! especially their sheet masks!! you can try Innisfree color clay mask (yellow) for hyperpigmentation or even the ordinary AHA/BHA peel will help with it! Missha also has a gentler AHA/BHA mask(the SOS peel and correct cream mask)
