The All Black Outfit.
There’s no denying that I love all-black outfits, I’ve styled all-black monochrome quite often on the blog here. However, this one was a bit unplanned. I was to show up at work on a weekend to help a colleague out by taking part in a quick work shoot and the dress code said “all black”.
Of course in true Cassie Daves manner, I put off thinking about what to wear till the very last minute – the morning of the day. I had to make a very quick decision and reached for the one clothing piece I own that is not only black but is super comfortable and my go-to at all times: this pair of black pants.

After the shoot, I hooked up with bloggers Princess Audu, Lade & Sogie and somehow, Sogie convinced me to make a stop at Lagos fashion week. Heading to the 2019 Lagos fashion week was definitely not in my memo for the day or (the month in general lol) so I hadn’t preplanned outfits specifically for the event. So whilst this wasn’t exactly what I would naturally have worn to Lagos fashion week, I love the fact that I didn’t have to stress over or overthink my outfit.

Lately, I’ve been tilting more towards easy breezy no-fuss stylish outfits that I can just breathe and feel comfortable in and this was one of it. Sometimes I wonder if my style is evolving or if I’m just too lazy to go all out and stand out a bit as I would have in the past.
I was also delighted to find that there seemed to be an unofficial “wear all black” to fashion week memo passed around because a lot of people came dressed in edgy-cool monochrome black looks. I completed my look with a turtle neck top, a matching blazer, and my current new favorite bag from Daltimore.
