Five Tips To Combat Blogger Block And Get Motivated Again.

How to combat blogger block Pinterest image It started as an unintended break. Just to refresh, I rationalized. After all, what better way to combat blogger block than a quick break? Right?

But slowly days turned to weeks, which in turn became a month. Again, I felt no actual guilt. Other than the little voice in my head reminding me that I have this space to feed. Because there’s only so much time you can take off your blog before you start getting complacent.

I’m here now and a bit more determined to kick blogger block in the butt and stay motivated to keep feeding this space

So let’s talk about getting stuck in a blogging rut and how to overcome it (a.k.a how I’m overcoming it)

P.S- This Post on ways to get out of a blogger block and get your blogging mojo back was originally published in 2014 and has been updated to reflect new information.

1. Reflect And Give Myself A Pep Talk.

I am a very introspective person and If there’s one thing I know that helps when I’m dealing with anything, it is reflecting on it. I like to ask myself the serious questions – The whys and the hows.

So as regards to blogging, I’ve been digging deep to find out why I feel stuck in this rut and I’ll be honest and admit that at the forefront of it is plain ole laziness.

After reflecting, writing down the answers to why you feel stuck will help guide you in dealing with it. For example, do you just have nothing to blog about? Or is it lack of time or motivation? Figuring out the why always helps with coming up with a solution.

2. Dig For Inspiration.

I’ll confess that I haven’t been doing a lot of blog reading as I used to in the past where you would normally find me buried in the endless loop of blog hopping and commenting.

But lately, I’m trying to fix up and do more reading both within/outside my own niche, catch up on my bloglovin feed and fish out new blogs, sites, instagram pages to follow.

It’s like my good friend Ismail says…Creativity is consumed, refined and regurgitated. If you don't consume the work of others you cannot produce anything . Click To Tweet

And because I never can tell how/when inspiration will present itself, I always carry around my blog planner just incase I get spurt of ideas at any point in time.

Please share your fav blogs/sites with me in the comment!

3. Switch Things Up | Try Something New.

Introduce a new segment, Invite guest posters over, feature someone. Shake things up a bit.
In my own case, this means reviving some of the old categories that used to get me so excited like the readers segment and candid talk.

4. Collaborate.

Reach out to other bloggers, photographers or fellow creatives and plan a shoot, blogger date, anything really. I find that nothing quite gets the body moving like joint forces.

And on this note, I’ll like to announce that I’m open to collaborations especially for YouTube. So if you have any ideas, please let me know!

5. Do The Work| Plan Ahead.

After all is said and done. It all still balls down to the actual motivation to do the work. And herein lies my problem. Haha

I started this post about a week ago, wrote the introduction and the rough draft but didn’t get myself to flesh it out till today.

How do I motivate myself ? Lately, I simply remind myself that if I don’t do the work, no one will.

It’s a new week and in an attempt to get my life back together, I’m trying to stay disciplined and do what I have to do when I have to do it.

I’ve mapped out posts for the next few weeks using my blog planner and I’m excited to get back to blogging again.
