One thing I never say no to is an opportunity to shoot with really dope photographers. So when Marc sent me a message asking if I was interested in a shoot – nothing serious, just to test out his new lens, of course I said yes immediately.
If you read this weekend bits post, then you might already know some of this.
We settled on a day and it coincided with Deola’s meet &greet which I had already planned to attend in something casual, so I stuck with my initial plan of this polka dot skirt and turtle neck too.
In retrospect, I should have taken the opportunity and shown up in something more up beat but I think this worked also.
This polka dot pleat skirt is slowly topping the list of one of my fave pleated skirts, majorly because of the countless ways I’ve been able to style it (here, here, here, and here )
My mum doesn’t feel the same way about my pleat skirts though and she thinks I should start dressing more lady like/ wearing more gowns.
I’m also beginning to think in that direction as well and have started the process to adding a few more “adult/lady like” pieces to my wardrobe. Not because she wants me to but because it hit me recently that I don’t really have lots of outfits for fancy gatherings/events, I’m always improvising.
Sometimes there’s ‘your style‘ and then there’s what is appropriate for a particular event and place. I believe there should be some balance and I’m currently striving to bridge that gap in my wardrobe. Of course, I’ll still stay true to my style and definitely find ways to make whatever i wear have a bit of “ME” shining true.
Its a lovely skirt and i think your mum is right. Balancing is always better.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Lol
Thanks Melody
The Skirt is really nice, you know I told you I'm going to start buying these skirts again? I actually raided my Mum's closet and found one. On styling yours, I woukd wear a denim shirt, tied/ knotted on it and not tucked into it with a gorgeous white heeles sandals…. Cheers to the week ahead Cassie
Love the look. I also started thinking about balancing out my wardrobe. While yours has to do with skirts, mine has to do with trousers!
I have just one skirt Hehe. Great post 🙂
P.S: I want the top ❤
I think I like the top with it. but if I must answer your question, I'd probably add a blazer on top and then change the sandals to shoes; makes for a perfect work outfit

Hey you, its been a long long time! Hope you're good?
Thank you and please come around some more :&
The skirt with a strapless or off-shoulder top and heels would be so pretty!!! Or a white button down and the sleeves rolled up! And yes, still with heels.

Ah yesss Berry, I see it too! You see why it's always good for me to ask for you people's opinions? I wonder why I didn't think of that (probably because I don't have an off shoulder lol) but yes! Your options plus wearing an extra skirt under to make it fuller and heels will be perfection.
Thanks Berry!
you look gorgeous I love your sandals

Girl you are not alone! When it comes to having fancy gowns I hardly have any. Its times when I get invited to weddings, when I realize that maybe I need to wear a bit more fancy skirts and dresses. The lace-up sandals are definitely a cute feminine touch to the look.
