Making A Case For Tees.
For a while now, I’ve been stuck in some sort of style rut. Dressing up no longer excites me, my wardrobe selections bore me out (doesn’t help that I did a recent wardrobe cleanse) and putting together “lewks” is the last thing on my mind.
What this means, is that I currently have more lazy style days than “slay days” and my already casual style has gotten even more “casual”.
Trust me, it’s not the most exhilarating place to be at, especially if you’re a self acclaimed “style enthusiast”. So you can imagine my frustration.
But If there’s one style piece that has come to my aid these past few weeks, it has been Tees.

Since launching my T-shirt brand here, I’ve been wearing a tee almost every other day of the week.
It’s particularly exciting for me because one of the reasons behind the launch was to promote the #wearmoretees movement.
T-shirts are super versatile – can be dressed up or down and have come in really handy for these lazy style days I’ve been having.

This look was from a few months back. It was put together on a whim and one of those “let’s hope it comes out as nice as it is in my head” looks. I think it worked quite well.
If you’re a day one here, you’d know of my obsession with pleat skirts. I’ve had this skirt for close to five years now and styled it here and here on the blog.
Although I’m rocking the fanny pack of my NYSC camp days, I find it a very useful and stylish addition.

I’ve been thinking of doing a how-to style/ T-shirt style inspiration series featuring the cassiedaves tees, so I decided to kick start it with the flourish tee which is one of my personal faves. In this second look, I styled the tee with yet another pleat skirt. Haha!
Wearing tees for the past few weeks have reminded me that sometimes a tee and “cool bottoms” combination is enough.
There’s a pressure that comes with being in the fashion or creative scene, to overdress and “give them”. But here’s a reminder that style while being individual is also in the little things too – how you combine basics seamlessly and how you carry yourself.

Your style is so chic. ❤️
I like t-shirts, but mostly fitted ones (which I really should stay away from, because of my body type). But my favorite way to wear a t-shirt will always be with jeans, a blazer and heels.
I love love this shirt, well done Cassie.
