Three Life Lessons Lately.

I’ve been trying to write this post for the past three or four days now but I keep pushing it away.
If you’re reading this right now, it means that I’ve finally worn the battle against procrastination and laziness. Yay me!

This past week especially was packed with so much lessons that sometimes I have to sit down and try and piece everything together. I’m one of those people that find it hard expressing/explaining myself and Its definitely not easier writing it down when its all in fragments in your head (Fragments that I understand anyways) but I’m going to try because after all why are we here if not to share, learn and grow?

So here goes,

1. Fear will only cripple you.
Not that I don’t already know this but like I keep saying, I’m constantly re-learning things.
I went for a casting recently and just couldn’t bring myself to walk. Let’s not even go so much into the ‘why’ but the bottom line is that I was afraid.

You know the thing about rejection? It leaves a bitter taste and makes you scared of trying again.
I reached out to a friend in my distress and was reminded of the statement in the picture up there.
So here’s me hoping for your sake that you’re brave enough to keep trying regardless because in the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take (I know I do)
I also hope that someday when you’re about to let fear (whether fear of failure, rejection, criticism, or change) stop you from taking a go at something, you remember this post and realize that you’re not alone in this and that it has happened to the very best of us.

2. Change your mind, you start the process to changing your life.

This one also kind of relates to the first one. My friend Tracy sent me some scriptures to read after that casting incident because she wasn’t used to seeing me give up easily and tried to get me back on track. (Friends like this are gold, keep them!)
Most times we don’t take ‘chances’ not only because of fear but because we are too much of a pessimist.
She made me realize that how and what you think of yourself is very important. If you keep thinking ‘oh I can’t do that’, then you’ll never be able to do it or ‘oh it won’t work out’, then it won’t.

3. Speak life everyday!
Notice how most of these lessons are related?

When you start thinking more positively and start speaking positively too, changes start to occur!
What is fear? That goes away too!
So everyday , I tell myself
‘I am the best out there’ ‘I am a success’
‘I am excellent at what I do’ ‘I have grace unlimited’ etc etc
There really is power in the tongue.

What are some lessons you’ve learnt recently? I’ll really love to hear and learn as well, please share!
