True Self Reflection Cards: A Tool To Help You Unlock Your Authentic Self.

Because being your true authentic self is always going to feel like you’re swimming upstream.

Sometime in January, I was in the thick of a depressive episode, one of my closest relationship at that time seemed to be nearing its end and I was in search of something to tether me back on earth, so I got an email pal (pen pal, but via email).

My thought process was that I might find some solace from the act of baring my soul, writing my heart out, or simply stating that I couldn’t find it in me to write my heart out because I couldn’t will myself to get anything done. Little did I know that this singular act would not only help me find my way but will give me the extra push I needed to say yes to an opportunity when it came my way.

In one of the email exchanges, my email pal wrote back asking me a series of questions that I daresay have been some of the most reflective I’ve received.

To share a few:

“Are you using people to free yourself from other people? Who has told you that people are the lifelines you need? Why do you need to look so far outside yourself? What have you traded for a semblance, for the appearance of love and friendship and acceptance? Has feeling occasionally wanted justified feeling occasionally small?”

He ended with a simple suggestion: Do the unthinkable and dangerous thing now: stay where you are and tell yourself the truth. Start there.

I remember looking at those questions and forwarding them to my friend with the note “this will make you think and question yourself”. I couldn’t help but think “Everyone needs to see this too!”

So when Nkeko Games, a Nigerian card games brand reached out to me for a collaboration, a card deck that will help people reflect, introspect and ask themselves the hard questions in a bid to get to connect with their true authentic selves, I was definitely sold.

It has been an exciting experience putting these together. Authenticity and Vulnerability represent the core of my brand, and I am super proud of what we created together.

The goal for me remains to keep sharing light, and helping people connect deeper with themselves. Asking ourselves the right questions and answering honestly is highly underrated. It is important to get to know every fiber of ourselves so we can live as authentically as possible. This is where TRUE SELF reflection cards comes in, a deck of cards filled with well thought out questions to help you introspect, unlock, and connect deeply with yourself.
