How To Make Your Basics Work For Night Time

Evening/Dinner Style For The Not So Girly Girl

Hey Hey! Wondering why the wide smile?

Did I mention I’m finally done with this med school struggle? I don’t think I did but yes guys! God has been so faithful! I was just re-reading the post I wrote on the first day of final year on how its the beginning of the end for me and then seeing pictures of my classmates and I way back when the struggle started during our final dinner the other night, it hit me again that it has really been six years plus!! Mahn!
Speaking of dinner, that’s the main reason why we are here right now. My final year dinner was last Thursday and I didn’t actually plan to go so when I finally changed my mind last minute, I had to put something together.

Now when you hear ‘dinner party’, almost everyone thinks long gowns and the likes but hey! What if you’re not cut out for that sort of razzmatazz?. I’m not exactly a ‘girly girl’ but although my decision to not wear a dress to my dinner had nothing to do with that and everything to do with poor planning plus being too broke to go and buy an appropriate jaw dropping dress.

I’ve been thinking there has to be a chic alternative to evening dresses and so I thought pants! Flares to be specific! You dress them up with a nice slinky/dressy top, preferably strappy hand.

I’m wearing a simple camisole I got a while back and this wine red skirt-pants thing from my capsule wardrobe that I’m really not sure what its called.

If you’re also like me, on a frugal journey and really can’t afford to go get yourself a sparkly new dress, you can easily work with the basics you already have in your wardrobe, it just depends on how you pair it up to make it work.

Here is my tip – Accessorize, Accessorize!!  Throw on a statement neckpiece, stack up on the arm candy, nice heels and you’re good to go!

Oh and if you ever feel out of place : Just remember this one thing – Everyone else might be Beyonce but you are Solange and when it comes to style, Solange is the real deal!

My makeup and photography was done by my friend Tarila who has her own beauty blog – www.taadah.WordPress.com
