A Weekend Staycation at Fraser Suites Abuja (Review).

This Sallah holiday, I packed up a small bag for a quick trip to Abuja. It was an idea I’ve been nursing for a while now, so when the opportunity came to not only satisfy my Abuja craving but to do so while enjoying a luxurious stay at one of the best hotels in Abuja – Fraser suites Abuja, of course, I was totally in.

Giddy with excitement and armed with my camera to capture memories, I made my way down to the MM2 airport in Lagos on a hot Friday afternoon.

After a long and harrowing experience with the airline, I finally arrived Abuja on Saturday sometime past midnight – way far from my estimated time of arrival, but that’s a story for another day.

I’d seen pictures and reviews of some of the other Fraser suites hotels around the world and was quite excited to experience one for myself.

My Fraser Suites Abuja Experience.

Fraser suites Abuja is the first of the Fraser franchise in Africa. With approximately 126 rooms – from studio-style apartments to 4 bedroom penthouses, I was delighted to learn that they retained the same level of standard and model the Fraser hospitality brand is known for.

The first thing that caught my attention asides from the lush decor was the impeccable service we (My sister and I) received while waiting to confirm our booking and get a room key.

My sister would later describe the service as “homely”. I don’t know if that’s the right word, but I know that it was quite impressive. And as first impressions go, it was definitely a good one.Fraser suites abuja lobby Fraser suites abuja lobby Section of rooms at fraser suites abuja

I stayed in one of the studio executive suites overlooking the central atrium. The rooms at Fraser suites Abuja come fully serviced and equipped with a kitchenette, Nespresso machine, and other bits and bobs to make you feel at home.

I appreciate hotels that have the added benefit of a kitchenette and provide you with essential things like hairdryers, ironing boards, etc. For someone like me who gets hit with random midnight cravings, these little things make me happy.

The room was just the right size for me -with a mini sitting room, dining area, and the nicest toiletries I’ve ever seen in a hotel (I mean L’occitane toiletries? Yes please!).

Asides from the orange lights -I have a preference for white light and the Air conditioner that threatened to freeze me to death (just doing its job I guess lol), I really had no complaints throughout my stay.

You’ll find three restaurants at Fraser – There’s the cafe that sells the most delicious brownies, the dining room that serves food round the clock and where I had all my meals (Complimentary) and the gazebo that serves Italian food.

There was always an abundance of food at the dining room – buffet-style and every single thing I had was good enough for my picky ass self. No exaggerations here. 11/10 Highly recommend.

Another gem at Fraser is the courtyard. Here you’ll find a beautiful large pool, the gazebo and the gym housing Fraser’s in-house pet – a mean faced parrot called Koko.

It’s unfortunate that I still don’t know how to swim, otherwise, I would have spent any spare time chilling poolside doing just that.

Nothing upsets me more than shitty internet at a hotel or having to stay at one spot to be able to connect to the wifi (This happened to me in Cotonou. smh). There’s also a lot of emphasis on security so I daresay that it’s pretty secure.

It’s not an artsy hotel or the cheapest by any means but it has just about every luxury or comfort you could wish for to make your stay pleasurable.

You can book a stay or find out more details here.

P.S- My stay was courtesy of Fraser suites Abuja but all words and opinions are definitely mine. Definitely.

Unfortunately, I didn’t really document my Abuja experience so I don’t have many stories of my time in Abuja for you guys.  I finally got to meet some of my Abuja faves like Kuyet & Joanne of Strobrie and check out some of the places I’ve been longing to. I have a highlight dedicated to my Abuja trip on my gram- I’m @Cassiedaves on Instagram, and you can check that out.

Have you ever stayed at any of the Fraser suites hotels? How did you spend your sallah holiday?  As always, please leave me your thoughts, comments, suggestions, etc! And let’s connect!
