This post was partly inspired by a conversation I had with my younger sister this morning, she was going on and on about how she needs glasses when we all know there really is nothing terribly wrong with her eyesight and partly by the success of my tall girls problems post.
I decided to go for it and share some of the problems that comes with using recommended/corrective glasses.
1. Losing my glasses is the worst
Because I need the damn glasses to look for it. Ugh
2. Been called four eyes, blindie, or ojiugo
Okay, i don’t use such word but Bunmi i see you…
3. When people go, can you see without your glasses?
YES GUYS! I’m NOT BLIND. :/
4. Then they proceed to ask how many fingers they are holding up.
Like are you being serious right now??
5. Can’t show off your eye makeup or new sunshades
Except you use contacts which is just stressful and gives the worst headaches
6. Going to see a 3D movie
and having to wear your regular glasses beneath the 3D glasses. Ehrr okay, no movie for me then.
7. Missing out on gist (not like I’m an amebo or something)
Hey cassandra check this person’s outfit out. Oh wait lemme put on my glasses. Nvm, she’s gone. Ugh
8. Also you can’t whisper to me from across the class because I’ll need to put on my glasses first to read your lips *sigh*
9. Stereotype.
I might be smart/nerdy/geeky but not because I use glasses. OKAY??
10. The stress of picking out new frames
Especially if you’re indecisive like me! Cat eye frames? round frames? this or that colour?
11. Having to take it off and on when i want to take pictures
Off to take the picture and back on to examine the picture. Notice how I’m holding my glasses on standby in this picture from my last outfit post?
12. THE HEADACHES!!
and having to complain about it only to be offered new glasses every time. Problem not solved!
But hey! Here is one advantage : you can sleep off behind it in a boring class (if its tinted though). Not that I sleep in class or anything ._.
You're preaching to the choir. I cant show off my winged liner, i'm considered boring and timid because of my glasses, friends keep saying my eyes will shrink or something*sigh*. Sad life;(

Ah yes! Sure, with the right frames, it can make you look edgy but then it doesn't take away so many other problems I.e the headaches. *sigh*

The most annoying one should be comparing me to one crazy lecturer in my school, pssst I don't gerrit mehn, the stereotyping is ok ok, till they ask questions in class and no one knows it and everyone including the lecturer is staring at the girl with glasses, I was forced to scream kilode one time like that.
Sad life indeed. But yeah we rock like hell. Am #Adorkable jare.

LOL…this post is so true!!! I get laughed at when i have to wear my glasses first to see what someone is showing me, i've never lost my glasses tho. Funny enough, i hardly notice i wear glasses, until someone laughs at me or when i forget it in my room… is that weird? It has become part of me. and for contact lenses…those headaches are the absolute worsssttt! Great post Cass!

OmG every single one! This post is my life story I tell you. One more is the marks my glasses make on my face.
The "I don't know how you look, I can't see you" also works as a plus for me though- my sis can ask 200 questions about her look before going out. Jesu. I just hide my glasses under a pillow and say I can't see.
Also wear glasses, but i just got tired and dumped them…. after all my shakara I'm still gonna get new lens today cos i really need em sigh

I Def face the struggle of picking out new frames..right now I literally have about six new frames ..still thinking of the one to use for my lens..i don't exactly get a headache..my glasses actually made me stop having headaches..i used to have serious migraines before I wore glasses; astigmatism …what else what else..yeah I have to take my glasses off when I eat hot food..else the steam just covers my lens..erm…yeah also, taking it off to bathe..Sometimes I forget and bathe with my glasses on..and yeah..i get a lot of the nerd stereotype thingy…..altogethr it has been a nice experience. .mostly because it helps me strain my eyes less…
Wait!!! Contacts give head aches? Ah bless my mother!!! She absolutely refused I get contacts!!! 1 story after another and my plan was to get them in school 😀 I'm going back to my frames thank you. I have been called blindy so many times it hurts! Like they don't know the struggle!!! :')
heeey cassie..thank u for this great post. not long ago was i so dying inside on the thought of me gonna be the only one of the maids in my friend's upcoming wedding wearing glasses. i sobbed and sobbed and now am back on my feet planning to get the best and edgy frames and rock them on that day (onwards of course)..fingers crossed!!!

i can relate to everything you have written… walahi. and the boo thinks its cute to wear glasses, me am like, lets exchange eyesight now. i wont mind. The fact that i cant find things when i am looking for something is so annoying eh. I have been called blind barthemeous several times. the itching i get from contacts, i can relate. I get so confused when trying to buy frames and looking for a particular frame i saw on someone. *cheers to us* jare.
