First off, Happy new year guys! I’m not sure I said that in my previous post but I’m certain there’s no offense in repeating it again. So, Happy new year! How’s the new year treating you?

I’m Super pumped to be writing again on my blog, it feels like it’s been ages. I had planned for my next post to be my “year in review” post, but as they say – man proposes and God disposes.

If you follow me on social media (Instagram + Twitter) or happen to be signed up to my mailing list (Join the family here!), you’d know that I recently collaborated with my current fave co-working space in Lagos – The Tribe xx Lab to Co-host a Gratitude + Goal setting workshop.

If you didn’t know, no worries! I’m here to give you the low down and of course, as always, this doubles as a style post as well.

Co-hosting a workshop, especially so early in the year wasn’t something that was preconceived but in the spirit of saying Yes to things and especially the things that scare me like public speaking, I went with the flow and I’m glad I did.

The day started with some anxiety but for the most part, I was excited about meeting some of my online family.

I was fully expecting a lot of Nigerian time but the guests trickled in slowly but in good time and I kickstarted the event by getting everyone to bond and introduce themselves.Guest at the tribe xx lab lagos gratitude workshop with cassie daves Guest at the tribe xx lab lagos goal setting workshop Guest at the tribe xx lab lagos gratitude workshop Guest at the tribe xx lab lagos gratitude and goal setting workshop Sarah James at the tribe xx lab lagos gratitude workshop Tife Prec at the tribe xx lab lagos gratitude workshop Guest at the tribe xx lab lagos gratitude workshop

Emalohi Iruobe, who is the founder of Tribe xx lab and who was the main host for the event subsequently took over and took us all on a journey sharing tips on journaling, the power of affirmations and setting goals the right way.

We all joked, laughed, sipped, took loads of pictures but most importantly left with some new knowledge. At least, I know I did.

One of the key things I re-learnt was the power of speaking things into existence and how to set SMART goals. Will be expanding on this in another post soon.

Creating a gratitude jar was the base of the event so after all of the talk, we settled fully into creating our gratitude jars for the year and also sharing the things that we were grateful for.

It was a nice intimate event – Tribe xx lab was the perfect location and I loved meeting every single one of the people that came out. I finally got to meet blogger babe and my e-friend Asaakemi even though we somehow managed to not have even a single picture of us taken. haha

If I were to guess from the way everyone seemed to instantly connect and how laughter/conversation flowed easily, I daresay it was a success.

I’ll like to say thank you so much to everyone that showed up for me at the event. I don’t take anyone of you for granted and I’ll always be grateful for the support. Thank you!

Have you ever kept a gratitude jar/journal?  Do you plan to keep one this year? Pray, tell and share in the comments!Gratitude jar at tribe xx lab lagos Gratitude jar workshop at tribe xx lab lagosGratitude list paper

What I Wore.

I wasn’t sure what look to go with – super casual or smart casual, but one thing was for sure, I definitely planned to rep my brand and wear one of my tees from shop cassiedaves.

I figured most of the people that truly know me/follow me online would already know that when it comes to style, casual and comfortable is my jam, so there was no pressure to try to go overboard to impress.

This is one of the perks of living your authentic life and being true to yourself even with the way you present yourself on social media.

I settled for a smart casual look, pairing the do better tee from shopcassiedaves (Get yours here!) with a midi pleated skirt I recently bought off a friend.

The icing on the cake was my choice of lip color. I haven’t worn a bold lip color since my last time here and I was just playing around with my Jaxx cosmetics lipstick but it turned out alright.

What do you think? Are you a fan of bold lip colors like this?

How will you style my look differently?

P.S –

The Tribe as I like to call it is a co-working and wellness space for women located on the 4th floor of No 15, military street, in Onikan, Lagos. It was borne out of a need to carve out a space where women can work out of, network, make friendships, and just be themselves.

They offer open-plan office spaces, private offices, conference/event rooms, and host yoga at their rooftop on Thursdays. Definitely worth checking out! IG@tribexxlablagos
