Home Office Shelf Styling : How To Style A Pinterest Worthy Shelfie

One of the things I take pride in, and that also happens to be my favorite part of my home office space is my home office shelf styling. For someone with no prior knowledge of how to style a shelf, I think I did good.

You might think of it as a no brainer, after all, why should styling a home office shelf be that hard right? But it really isn’t the easiest thing to get right. I like to think of it as an art form, same way I think of setting up a gallery wall. Looks easy, but requires a well thought out process.

I’ve tweaked my home office shelf styling over and over, adding and taking away bits here and there. The process never fails to bring me joy. I love sitting at my desk and just taking it all in – sounds excessive but I’m finding joy in the little things lately and this happens to be one of them for me.

In this post, I’m giving you a quick tour of my office shelf, and sharing a few tips on how to style your office shelf like a pro.

I went to work immediately after my office shelves were installed, pulling together some of my favorite things to see how they can be incorporated on the shelf.

I didn’t want to have to buy anything new, so I scoured my house for books that I loved and bits and pieces that reflect me.

Picking out the books to display on my shelf was the easiest bit of styling it. I already knew that I wanted to display some of my favorite books my african authors and then some. Books are great anchor pieces to start with when styling your office shelf, and that’s exactly what I started with.

Frames came in next ; these took a bit more work because I really wanted to be intentional about the words I display . I ended up framing a few quotes from my blog planner and one of my favorite quotes from Morgan Harper Nichols.

I thought that finding the extra decorative bits to complete the styling would be the hardest part, because most of the shelfies I saw on Pinterest were styled with really fancy objects. Fortunately, I found items at home that worked – my speaker, an old camera lens, a diffuser stick and this old table top clock.

The Progression Of My Office Shelf Styling

Like I mentioned earlier, I keep tweaking my home office shelf styling, adding and taking away things. I started with a really basic setup, and as you’ll see in the pictures below, I’ve improved on my styling a bit more.
