Whoop!

To be honest, I struggled with this style post. I wasn’t sure what to title it, what angle to approach the post from or what style type/theme to fit this look into. It doesn’t quite qualify as casual, smart-casual doesn’t cut it either, neither does athleisure or quirky. You can imagine the fix I was in.

I spent a significant amount of time looking through the pictures, waiting for the light bulb moment and was just about going with the flow when it hit me – the skirt and sneakers trend!

If you’ve been around for a while, you probably know that I’m a sneakerhead and I always look for any opportunity to put on kicks. The awesome part of my sneaker addiction? They are always in style and can be worn with literally anything – Including skirts!

I remember seeing the (midi) skirt and sneakers trend back then and loving it instantly, although I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. Well, looking at this outfit, I’d say that I definitely pulled it off well!

Today’s post highlight, however, isn’t exactly just the “skirt and sneakers look” but this absolutely lovely button down skirt I thrifted. I rarely wear skirts and would never buy one as an impulse buy but with this, it was love at first sight.

My first thought was to style it with more than a few buttons open to mid-thigh level and with a white camisole (which I also immediately thrifted on the spot because I’m one of those people that shop with a picture in my head and try to style whatever I’m buying).

Although the skirt and camisole mix was stunning on its own, I decided to give the whole look a modern vibe by throwing on my favorite denim jacket, Kurt Cobain sunglasses and of course, white sneakers!

What do you guys think of this look and how would you style it differently? Also, please help a sister out here – if you were to fit this look into a style type, what would you call it?
