New In – Trying Korean Beauty Products For Acne.

I don’t know about you but I’m finally jumping on Korean beauty products. Especially Korean beauty products for Acne and I’ll be sharing why and what influenced my decision in this post.

Korean beauty products are all the rave; There’s always one article or another talking about the ten-step Korean skincare routine and everyone on the internet seems to swear by it.

Regardless of all the positive reviews, I haven’t had any reason to jump on the bandwagon because my skincare needs have pretty much been consistent/the basics.

Though I love to try out new products, I’m a firm believer in keeping your skincare routine as minimal as possible and only using products that you actually need.

Lately, I’ve been battling with acne (and acne scars/hyperpigmentation) that just won’t go away. At first, I wondered if it was just hormonal acne because I’ve been taking monthly hormonal shots for endometriosis. Then I figured it could also be a reaction to a change in skincare product, whatever the cause was though, I just wanted to get my clear skin back. So when my friend suggested I try Korean beauty products for acne, I figured there was no harm in doing so.

It helped that my friend is not only a Medical Doctor but also owns a skincare store and currently training as an aesthetic doctor. After careful back and forth talk on my current skin issues and concerns, she helped me settle on a few Korean beauty products for acne.

I’m a sucker for order and I like to stick to formulas so I made sure to get products that I need for each step of my skincare routine. I already have a moisturizer that works fine for me, chemical exfoliators (Salicylic acid and Glycolic acid), and my moisture fix – hyaluronic acid.

So I got a

  • Salicylic acid cleanser – Cosrx Calming Foam Cleanser.

Salicylic acid is a key player when it comes to managing Acne. It’s a BHA that not only exfoliates the skin but also helps to unclog pores. I settled for the Cosrx cleanser because it came highly recommended and has a mild percentage of salicylic acid (0.5%). I did not want anything too drying.

  • Vitamin C Serum – IUNIK Propolis Vitamin Synergy Serum.

I’ve talked about how Vit C was a game-changer in my routine because of it’s brightening effect, so of course, I had to get a Vit C serum for post-acne hyperpigmentation. The Iunik propolis serum is a mix of 70% propolis extract (Propolis has anti-inflammatory properties), 12% Vit c and2%  niacinamide so you can see why I was sold.

  • Niacinamide – Tiam Vita B3 Source.

Niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3 that helps to fade acne scars, improve uneven skin tone, minimize the appearance of enlarged pores, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. I’ve actually never used Niacinamide before so this is a first.

  • Sunscreen – Aqua Sun Gel SPF 50+.

Because splurging on skin care products without using sunscreen is a waste of time. I’ve used the Neutrogena and lavyanna sunscreens and wanted to try something new.

P.S: I got all the products from ShopModavracha.

  • Recently submerged myself in the world of K-Beauty. Check James Walsh on Youtube. He’s my go to guy.
My problem is that K-beauty isn’t very accessible in Nigeria as sites that stock them don’t ship to Nigeria and the IG vendors in Nigeria resell them at an expensive price.
Either way, ordered a bunch of them and my friend who is coming from the US this month is bringing them for me.
Got 2 CosRx products, vit C serum from dear klairs and one other one I can’t remember. Totally looking forward to them.
