There seems to be one too many names to refer to this trend and it can get a bit confusing at times trying to decide the distinct features that differentiates one from the other but the one thing that remains a constant is definitely the fact that the rise of fashionable sports wear is well and truly here!

I blogged about the athleisure trend a short while back and shared some style inspiration to rocking the active wear trend here.
I honestly don’t quite feel like this look is totally “athleisure“, at least not creative enough (or maybe I’m just being too critical) but I can’t deny that it falls into the fashionable sports wear trend.
I find that a lot of people think “sporty fashion” is basically just slapping on sneakers on any outfit, but I think you need at least one more “athletic inspired” detail to really make it work.

In this case, mine is this pencil skirt with a sporty edge/ silhouette I got off Liz Awoliyi’s closet at the celebrity yard sale.

I paired the skirt with one of my fave graphic tees, which I’ve also styled on the blog here. I actually didn’t plan to shoot this look, I wore this to work but with white flats instead and decided to switch to sneakers after work to attend a few meetings.
