Taste Fest With The Pinkberry Holly Jolly Layers.

Here’s a random fact about me – I have an extremely sweet tooth. If you follow me on Instagram, you may already know this.

I’m addicted to and actively seek out the sweet things in life – cookies, chocolate, gelato, ice cream… You name it. I can never say no to them.

Now, frozen yogurt is a different case for me. I didn’t like it outrightly and for once, I found something sweet that I could actually say no to. Shocking right?!

But last week, I walked into the Pinkberry Lagos store and had a life-changing frozen yogurt taste fest that changed my views on frozen yogurt for the better and I’m glad to say I’m now a convert.

Pinkberry is a global frozen yogurt (FroYo) brand that launched a franchise in Lagos, Nigeria early this year. They serve a variety of distinctive Froyo flavors that can also be personalized with a different combination of delicious toppings.

Last weekend (7th December), Pinkberry unveiled a new creation in line with the festive season called the “Pinkberry Holly Jolly Layers”, and I and a few others got to be the first people to taste them.

The Pinkberry holly jolly layers is a cup of creamy goodness prepared and served in five different amazing flavors.
Think Layers of yogurt with freshly cut fruits, different toppings, and even more yogurt. Now think all the sweetness you want but with less guilt!

In this post, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the various flavors of the Pinkberry Holly Jolly Layers.

The Pinkberry Holly Jolly Layers come in 5 flavors –

1. Santa’s Fave.

What it contains – The original Pinkberry Yoghurt with layers of kiwi, watermelon, strawberry and more layers of the original yogurt.

What I think – Santa’s fave was the first I tried out and the one that got me thinking “maybe yogurt is going to be my next addiction”. I couldn’t stop taking it even though I was meant to just have a taste.

I’m not a fan of watermelon, I think it’s a waste of a fruit (shrugs) but this mix worked perfectly. The kiwi and strawberry toppings made for a perfect tangy taste too.

2. Sweet Tidings.

What it contains– Layers of original and blackberry frozen yogurt layered with watermelon, popping boba, strawberries, and coconut.

What I think – Sweet tidings was rich! It felt like it had everything in it. I was particularly excited to realize that it also had pooping boba too! This was my favorite of them all.

I’m not big on coconut shavings but strawberry, kiwi and popping boba? Count me in again and again!

3. Deck The Yo.

What it contains – The original Pinkberry yogurt with layers of passion fruit, papaya, blackberry, grapes, popping boba and coconut.

What I think – I didn’t realize how much I needed passion fruit in my life till I had a taste of it in a gelato one day and it’s been love ever since. I love the taste of passion fruit so this made it into my good books.

Passion fruit is a bit sour but works really well with something creamy and sweet like yogurt.
Oh, and did I mention that this has popping boba? Need I say more?!

4. Chocolate Grinch.

What it contains – Layers of Chocolate hazel and Cookies’N’Cream Yoghurt, brownie bites, Oreo Cookies, and Cashew Nuts

What I think – Ah good ol’ chocolate -My fave thing ever. Blessed was the day when chocolate was first made.

I didn’t know that you can have a chocolate flavored yogurt so this was really interesting for me and I was pretty eager to try it out.

For some reason, this was my least favorite. Probably because I’d rather have chocolate as is and not in yogurt form but my co-taster Chuey chu loved it.

It’s not at all bad, I like that it has Oreo cookies in it to keep me busy and I’m sure the kids will love this one.

5. Berry Merry Christmas.

What it contains – Purée with layers of Wildberry, strawberry and popping bobba:

What I think – Berry merry Christmas is berry heaven. Pinkberry does the berry flavors well, particularly with sizable whole berries.
If you’re a fan of berries, you’ll love this! I’m personally on the fence when it comes to berries so this wasn’t my top on my own list but that’s a personal preference. My friend loved it.
