The Sunday Style Edit
Here’s the thing about church and I – We have a shaky relationship. Shaky in that, I always want to go. I imagine myself nodding off to the healing streams at Daystar Christian center but somehow Sunday pulls through and I can’t for the life of me figure out what to wear.
I know, I know.
What a silly reason to not go to church right?
Recently, I realized the main problem I have with my Sunday style and dressing for church is the fact that I keep trying to dress more “put together” for church AKA wear dresses, skirts, heels, etc.
Whilst there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. I mean they don’t call it “Sunday Best” for nothing. But finding my personal style pushed me towards the side of more fugly type clothing. More comfortable than classy. More dressed down than up.
So I made a resolve to stop trying to fit into the typical “Sunday style” stereotype and dress how I’d normally do even if that means sneakers, mom jeans, and print shirts.

Today’s Sunday style, however, is this casual yet super stylish shirt dress from Nigerian brand – Demure by Denike. One of my favorite things about shirt dresses is how versatile they are – can be worn as a dress, a shirt (if short enough) and as a kimono/jacket.
I love the mix of prints in this and I was pretty pleased with this purchase. Partly because I’ve followed the designer right from when she was a fashion blogger up to her finally launching her label and also because now I can proudly use the hashtag #BuyNigerian(Designers)

The plan was to pair the shirt dress with heels but unfortunately I’ve been asked to stay off heels for now by my doctors so my red flats was my next best option.

I actually love this dress and that adire(?) add is actually genius, never hesperredit.
I don’t even have a Sunday style anymore. Since I started dressing myself, I just wear something and go. Need to up my ay game 😩
Thank youuu so much ❤️❤️❤️
I totally agree that it’s genius and I think we are in the same boat now lool
This is such a stylish shirt dress! Finding it out what to wear is one problem I encounter too, but then not going to church is so not allowed (pastor parents). So, I just end up coming up with sth comfortable. Heels? They are just for pictures, well except block heels though.
This is an outfit I’d definitely rock with no hassle. I love your shoes too.

I love how you styled this shirt dress. One thing I would change if styling it myself would be to add a belt to define my waist.
My Sunday style is just anyhow anyhow. I was brought to think that dressing to church involved exqyisite dresses and all and that’s so not me. I am changing my Sunday style one cloth at a time.
I’m getting myself a dress like yours is really Peng!!
