Three Things To Try In The New Year

While everyone is out there penning down resolutions, I’ve decided to be a bit more realistic “with myself” this year.
By no means is this me saying that new year resolutions are a waste of time but writing down 21 things to do before 21 and not doing any of them last year taught me not to limit accomplishments to one season. I know what needs to be done with or without resolutions.
However I fully acknowledge that making resolutions is also good and writing it down might help give you motivation and keep you organized but its so darn hard to keep sometimes.
Anyone have tips for making new year resolutions stick?
I’ll be sharing three things I plan to try this year
P.S – These things aren’t “Resolutions”

Declutter

I’m saying Amen and trying to tap into the inspiration from that quote right now. My wardrobe needs A LOT of decluttering but somehow I keep postponing it (Nah, I’m just lazy) so I’m finally going to put my back into it and also declutter my mind.

Fun Hair / Lip Colour

Cara Delevigne, Uzy Paws, Raychillster, Kylie Jenner, Shope Delano.

Oh no, the bold lip colour inspiration isn’t for me. Been there, done that and even wrote a post on how to get your lips looking this sassy here. I was just hoping you might want to try that this year, No? Sorry, too forward of me.
I’m thinking more in line of doing something fun for once with my hair. Although cutting my hair last year was a welcome change and fun after I got over the trauma of seeing my hair in bits and pieces on the floor but wouldn’t it just be a shocker to my friends to see conservative ol’Cassandra in *gasps* green hair *gasps* .
I’ll most likely start with a short bob ombre blonde seeing as anything else might send my consultants into a fit. Maybe the grey braids too? We’ll see about that.

Journaling

I tried my hands at journaling last year but failed woefully. I’m not even gonna lie, keeping up was a bit hard and I was either too busy or too tired at the end of the day to write into it. But there is something about re-reading my thoughts that makes me want to try my hands at this again.
So I’m off to go scribble into that book and pray I stick to it this time around.

What are some things you”ll like to try this year!? Doesn’t have to be anything deep or life changing. Please share!
Happy new year guys!

  • Tips for sticking with resolutions…
    re-read them..
When it feels like you've lost track..go back, re-read and see how you can get back on track.it sure helped me this year..

Something I want to do this year? More quality gowns and bags…need to start dressing up like a lady… πŸ™‚

    • Me too! I need to buy more classy dresses, bags and shoes. Not totally because I need to Start dressing like a lady sha but because I have events that come up and require that and I get stuck on what to wear.

      Thanks for the tips Frances!

    • Great read. Personally, I am going to speak more positively to myself this year. I've come to realize I wouldn't keep a friend around who spoke down to me as much as I do to myself, so that has to stop. On a fun note, maybe this old man will go blonde again. hahaha. Happy New Year Cassandra!

  • Yass to decluttering ,you've been talking bout it since. Definitely more fun hair and lip colour, ever since i wrote on Uzy paws I've had that grey hair booked. I already got my journal ready. You could write your goals in front of you journal so you see it every time you open it, let em be realistic not spmetinh like fly a plane or marry an Arab guy

  • It might sound funny but I have always wanted to have myown fashion line, I made enough plans to make it a success last year but some disasters beyound my control disrupted it. I pray and hope it becomes a success b4 the middle of the year! Ehen, one more thing, I plan to stop people checking in and out of my life like a hotel room! Happy new year blogfam

    • Sound funny? Heck No! It sounds amazing really, and the fact that even with the obstacles and all you still haven't given up is equally amazing. Ii wish you the very best and may this year bring you closer to your dreams Jess

  • Haha my closet is never cluttered but then again I'm very sure I don't have as many clothes as you. Concerning the grey braids, it's like you read my mind. I'm doing them this year, I was just telling my mother that this morning. It's always nice to step out of your comfort zone. I tried to start a journal in 2014 too but just like you I failed, it's not really my thing to be honest. xx

    • Never?! You're the real mvp though!!
trust me, I don't have much clothes at all! I'm just too disorganized
Tthe grey braids is also looking very possible for me. Might mix it with black though

  • Yes to that gray braid! I should try it oh *thinking*
Yes to decluttering I believe it helps to allow things/people go just for the sake that they are heavy or taking too much space, fresh air does wonders for the soul.
To journaling, been doing so since secondary school, something I love love doing, it helps me measure my growth yearly, sometimes reading your thoughts has a certain appeal.

    Happy new year Cass.

    Love Suzie

  • As a guy.. I think I'll try out more colours this year.. I'm inspired by Pharell Williams play with colour in his style and looks, and I'd like to try that this year… Happy New Year, Cassie.. Happy New year, everyone…

  • If only you can declutter to my wardrobe Cassie that would be great, *wishful thinking*. I would be doing less of reading and lying down if I can and more of mingling. Happy new year babe!

  • Chioma why you raining on my parade na…. I was just about to ask her to declutter to my wardrobe o
This year, I'd like to try my hands on actually dating…. that's sth i've been pushing down the to-do list for too long.
I'd also want to keep a journal but then I think I already have an outlet on my blog….
    I'm just glad it's a new year
    Happy new year

  • I'm a worrier for life..a major one at that. I worry over the minutest things not to talk of the major issues but this year, I'lld love to try worrying less and letting God. Most importantly, build my self in the best way I can. Happy new year dear.

  • I started journaling after I discovered your blog (last month). It's been fun 'cos I'm this kind of person that doesn't express myself much (I mostly talk to myself though). Journalling has helped me organise my thoughts and made me discover that my pattern of thinking makes sense.
About new year resolutions, well, I don't have any. Before I used to make these "new year, new me" resolutions which I failed to adhere to. I just realised that I am me, and to get better, I need to UNDERSTAND and accept who I am and make improvements. So I just have minor plans, like cooking and reading more.
    Have a great year Cassie!

  • About the bold lippies, ive already done too much of that.the coloured hair- my mum has never bought the idea buh I was thinking of being a little rebel this year and trying on some hair colours when i'm back to school..people in my school wont mind, they're used to seeing me do out of ordinary stuff..lol.
    Happy new year Cassie!
