Last weekend, I attended a fashion/ networking event for fashion bloggers and enthusiasts put together by online market place “kaymu.
One of the best parts about these events is the people watching I get up to, trying to see where I can cop style inspiration from and stuff, you know.
I honestly hardly ever find much inspiration but this time around I noticed a recurring theme in the way most of the guests were dressed and I got the bright idea to put together this quick style inspiration guide post to help you in your search for what to wear this weekend.
The best part, of course, is that they are easy looks that you can pull off from outfits you already have in your wardrobe.
Here are three recurring trends I saw on some of the attendees for your weekend style inspiration!
Flares :
Adaku, Tomiwa, Sayedero |
I spotted quite a number cool people wearing flared pants in a variety of
lengths and styles from culottes, cropped, to floor-length.
Shift Dresses :
Vanessa, Kachi. |
Before Kachi showed up in her really pretty print shift dress, I already spotted two other people wearing shift dresses and made up my mind to get myself one (or two). I love how comfortable and easy to wear they are. You can wear with flats or dress up in heels and still look pretty fab.
Prints :
Zina(pic from stylevitae.com), Tuke, Desola. |
Ah, Yes. Prints.
Notice how everyone seems to be wearing some form of prints? Easy way to look bright and happy 😀
I myself, wore a print shirt as well (Full outfit post later)
It was a pretty fun event as I got to meet lots of other fashion bloggers but the peak of the whole thing was getting a sketch of myself by fashion illustrator, Claire Idera. I’m going to frame it ^_^
I also got a really nice goodie bag and a free voucher to shop on their site (they have cheap stuffs though, I never experredit.)
Great job Kaymu!

Thank you Ebony.
Meanwhile, I'm taking your sewing offer oh ^_^
I love that drawing of you. I want one! I am into shift dress and patterns. Not sure about flared trousers though. They make me nervous I don't know why.
Saw your pictures from Pulse.ng. Love your outfit.
Mira La Belle
Hayyy! Why does flared pants make you nervous? Okay, you just said you don't know why. Don't mind me, rheotorical question.
But for real, you should just get one and try! They are so chic and lovely. If I had my way, I'll have wide leg pants in every colour in my wardrobe :')
Thank you! Those ugly pictures on pulse and the other blogs. Lool
Nah! You looked cute, trust me.
So nice that you got a sketch of yourself. I want my own too. And the guests look fab. I don't know why you won't be calling a sister to follow you to all these fashion events sef. Leaving me all by myself ( ._.).
Awesome post btw! 🙂
Lol, Abike. I doubt you will be too interested but you know what? I'll invite you one of these days! Yes, I will.
Thank you for reading
Awww, I want a sketch!
Anyways, these trends point to the 70's trend that's been apparent for the past couple of months, innit?

Nice options and you look Amazing before I forget to mention.(my brain is like a dog chasing it's tail at times … okay all the time) lol Cool Art by Claire Idera also … she really captured you! :)Yes Frame it please!
My general rule on fashion is based on the 3 c's Cute, Comfy and Cool.
I was also taught about CPW (cost per wear). If you purchase an item and only wear it once, twice or never it was a bad buy … invest in key classic pieces … blazers, skirts, pant, shoes, bags other accessories that can be dressed up or down from season to season year after year.
Works for me since impulse buys are usually my worst mistakes. I think people watching is the least expensive pleasure and how much we learn when we keep our eyes open. Hence the saying we're born with 2 ears, 1 mouth so we should listen twice as much as we speak. Maybe we should add 2 eyes into the equation …make it 4 to 1 ratio. *random thoughts* With my Enormous mouth 😉 *practice what ya preach Cheri*
Thanks Cassie! Glad you're posting more … Wishing you and everyone a Relaxed Worry Free Weekend 🙂
culottes…i want even with my bump lol

This is lovely. I have some flares in my closet. Def try them out. Nice post Cassie. By the way I love your blog. And how do u know about all these events. I would love to attend one. I always know about them after they have occurred
Hey, thank you so much!!!!
Most times I just get an invite in my email but if you drop your email, I can let you know about them when I get. Cool?
Very stylish looks on the women.
Hi Cassie,
I love the vintage vibe of your shirt, you look lovely.
I'm really loving the culottes trend, they are just as girly as a skirt and cooler than trousers. Tomiwa's look is so chic.
I feel the same about outings, I'm always browsing through street style for inspiration, even in church :-).
Lool!
My church is so huge, I wouldn't even know where to start from. Its only after church that I might have an opportunity but then everyone (including myself) is rushing out.
Thank you! Its a vintage shirt 😀
I loved Tomiwa's look too, it feels casual in a way but really chic.
They all looked beautiful xx
Yes to flared trousers and shift dresses. Speaking of shift dresses I need one ASAP, preferably in Ankara sha but the struggle to find a reliable and affordable tailor is not easy. Anyways the sketch is cool and I'm looking forward to an outfit post on this look. By the way I love your approach to fashion blogging, your very creative.
Princess Audu
Heyy. That reminds me that I have a perfect ankara print that will work perfectly for a shift dress :')
Thank you for the compliment! Its always good to hear that your efforts are being recognized ^_^
They're all quite nice. I'm definitely up for flares 🙂
