On “Looking For Love” + A Casual Galentine’s Day Style Inspiration.

Cassie daves portrait shotGalentines day style Nigerian blogger c assie daves head shotA bit too late for a Valentine inspired post? I think not.

Although if I’m being honest, I never intended to have a Valentine inspired post here. For some reason, I’ve never really been into “Vals/ Galentines day style inspiration posts”. Although I understand how super helpful they can be. But give me a good sappy love story or self-love post and you’ve got me hooked.

I guess all this back story is to say this isn’t exactly a Valentine or in this case Galentines style inspiration post as much as it is me just sharing a few of my “touch of red” casual looks and a few random musings on this love thing.

But if you get inspired in any way, that will definitely be an added bonus.

This time last year, I was fresh off a relationship and in another I had no business being in except for the mere fact that I hadn’t figured out how to be alone. I wrote a post afterward about reclaiming myself and re-learning this solitude thing.

Looking back now, although there were a few relapses along the way, I can definitely see the growth and I so much love it.

This might sound crazy but sometimes I feel/hear a quiet voice in my head reminding me to focus on God instead and not worry so much about finding love or being in love.

A sort of quiet reassurance that everything good will come in due time and refocus my energy on what’s most important, which is working on myself and my relationship with my creator.

Do I listen to this voice all the time? No! Most often than not, I’m always looking for how to influence things instead of just letting go and letting God. I’m learning though and this work in progress can only get better.

P.S – I also want to add that I don’t think there is anything wrong with wanting to be in love or have a partner. Mentioning this because I realized that people get shamed for wanting this sometimes. Centering your whole life around it is when it becomes a problem.

I LOVE love so I’m definitely team Valentine’s day but I’ve never felt any pressure about it (both single and when I was in relationships ) and this year is no different.

Last year, I had a wonderful time at the Galentine’s day event myself and Laila Cadne hosted and this year we both decided to spend some gal time together tomorrow and wine & dine.

Hopefully, I feel well enough to actually leave home (currently battling dysmenorrhea. Oh yes it’s a battle) but whatever happens, I’m positive it’s going to be a day of self-care and love and work for me (aka like every other day).

In this post, I’m showing you how I styled this Coca Cola inspired tee in two ways.
I’m a big advocate for the #wearmoretees movement and I believe that tees can come in handy in so many fashion situations when styled well.

In the first look, I styled the tee with a wide legged pants from thenalegirl and this was actually a “church flow”. Vertical stripes and super long pants make your legs appear taller so I didn’t want to look even more “tall” by wearing heels, hence the flat sandals. Plus Hello comfort!

The denim mini skirt will forever be a fave, and pairing it with this lucy.daves mules and tee was a winning combination for me for a casual day event.
