Inspiration || Sock It Up

If you ask me what I think is the most underrated item in female wear, I’ll most likely say a hat because well, duh but that’s not why we are here. I recently discovered yet another hugely underrated and overlooked fashion item especially in female fashion and that guys, is why we are here!
What could I possibly be going on about? Why, the socks!
You didn’t see think that coming did you? You probably think it belongs somewhere at the top of a male fashion items list right?
Hopefully after I’m done, you’ll be able to recognize why the socks could just be the next best thing to happen after hats (of course).
It is an easy way to spice up your outfit and send off that vibe that you have a good knowledge of fashion/style even without actually knowing anything. Fake it till you make it right? I’m here for you!

How to wear it? Check out some of the ways I have worn it with some extra tips too:

– The right foot wear is definitely key :
You can wear a socks with practically any type of foot wear but I find that male inspired flats like brogues, sneakers, ankle boots and of course pumps and the ankle strapped heels work pretty well.

– Keep it fun and playful  :
Pair it with your favourite romper to give off that fun vibe. You can wear bright coloured socks or frilly socks for that playful feel as well. This was one of my looks to Lagos fashion and design week here

– Or Classy, Your pick! :
Also you can tie color tones in with the rest of your outfit to give it a uniform look especially if you’re not so bold to experiment with clashing prints just yet. I worked with nude and white in this post collaboration I did with the Grey brand

– If youโ€™re a retro fan, not to worry!
You can also pair it with your array of vintage midi pleat skirts like I did in this post.

Feeling inspired already? Here are some more pictures culled from the net of fashionistas and fellow bloggers doing this thing all the justice in the world.

The socks and shoe trend is a trend for the bold, no question about that.

So what do you think?
Would you sock it up and try this?
