Valentine’s Day Style Guide : Blogger Edition.

In the spirit of Valentine, I collaborated with fellow style bloggers Akin, Tuke, Ifeanyi, Ursula and Ekpo to put together some vals day style inspiration.

If you’re like me – not exactly about the dinner dress life and don’t own a lot of dresses, then you might find this post helpful in putting together a look for tomorrow.

We convened at Cafe Neo (I’ve done a review of cafe neo here) in victoria Island for the shoot with photographer Amah Afadameh behind the lens. The cafe neo space is a really lovely artsy space that I absolutely love!

I should probably title this “the last minute vals day style guide” as I didn’t think much about what I was going to wear till the very last minute and had to scramble around/make a quick choice.

The thing about last minute plans especially for something as special as a date is you might not be able to go all out with your outfit but not to worry! You can always make do with the basics you already have in your wardrobe ( I talked about making your basics work for a night out here). Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to call for an expensive “date night out” dress.

Like I mentioned in this wedding style post (which is another look that will work quite well for a vals day date) – skater skirts and flared pants are a wardrobe must have! They are pretty good alternatives to gowns, will easily save the day and can work well for pretty much every dress code setting – casual, evening, corporate. Name it!

I immediately decided to go the skirt and top route, pairing this black skirt from my jumia haul with a striped chiffon shirt, adding some touches of red with my gbemisoke heels and necklace.

Another option is the pant suit, if you can pull it off well.

I’m not much of a valentine’s day person and it has nothing to do with my relationship status but here’s wishing you a happy valentine’s day in advance from all of us!
